Barely There Makeup Essentials For Spring

The warmer season is finally here and that means less clothes, more time in the glorious sun - with SPF of course ;) and less makeup! Spring is also the time to shed all those winter colours and reveal fresh, glowing skin. Which is why we've enlisted the help of makeup artist extraordinaire, Amelia Singson to talk us through some of her must have beauty essentials to help us ace the perfect 'barely there' look for right now.

My favourite foundation EVER. This is a super lightweight, water-based tint that gives your skin a smooth, glowing finish with minimal but buildable, coverage. I keep this in my professional kit as well as my bathroom because it works for all skin types, particularly normal to dryer skins. However if you are prone to shine, pat a mattifying primer (like MAC Prep & Prime Skin Refined Zone - $35.00)on those hot spots to keep your skin from looking like an oil slick.  Feel free to pair it with your favourite concealer for extra coverage on troublesome areas and pop some on your legs to soften any imperfections or in case you forgot to tan.

The world’s best-selling blush also comes in a creamy stick! This unique innovation by makeup god Francois Nars came into existence at a photoshoot, where he used a single lipstick to create the model’s look. The look was so beautiful and so easily achieved that he took that inspired moment and turned it into the now iconic The Multiple. The universal peachy-pink with a hint of gold can be used for a soft wash of colour on the eyes, cheeks and lips. To make your blush stronger and longer lasting, pop a powder blush over the top!

I’ve been obsessed with this lipstick for years. Going back to my days as a Mecca Maven, I first got my hands on this beauty back in 2009 and it's been true love ever since. This lipstick is rich in colour, moisturising and long-wearing. With almost THIRTY shades to choose from, there is a colour for every mood! Tea Rose and Amaryllis are my go-tos for just-like-my-lips-but-better (Tea Rose) and epic pop of coral red.

Priceline just launched America’s drugstore beauty giant NYX this year and I couldn’t be more excited. This brand is low in price but amazing quality. I bought the Jumbo Eye Pencil in French Fries (typical) a week ago and promptly bought about five other shades the next day. What I loved about this product is the texture, it is so smooth! So imagine my delight when I realised there was no tugging on the eyelids, just rich colour that glides on like a dream. You can use these on their own for a soft wash of colour or layer them under a powder eyeshadow. You’re welcome.

Volumising eyebrow gel with fibres… umm yes please! Benefit’s cult-fav is also MY fav for natural-looking, full brows in a snap! It’s a tinted formula that has tiny little fibres that grab onto your actual brows to give the illusion of fullness without spending a tonne of time on them. Brush up and across to lift and shape your brow.
