Winter is on the horizon, so with the increased moisture in the air (thank you rain!) and the weather getting cooler keeping our skin balanced and moisturised can be quite the challenge.
Which is why we think investing in a body oil for this season is where it’s at. They’re easy to use, you can shop them online and really, all you need to do is ask a few simple questions before clicking ‘add to cart’.
You see not all oils are created equal so when looking for a body oil to slather on your bod first you need to check the ingredients list. The first ingredient should always be some kind of oil like jojoba, macadamia etc… (seriously, if the first ingredient is not an oil then there’s a problem) secondly it pays to look for one that is as close to its natural state as possible, the less tampered with the better – but each to their own, and finally; if your oil comes with a scent make sure it’s one you love (which might be hard when you’re shopping online) although scented oils tend to last longer on your skin than you might realise.
Then really, all you have to do is slather it on after you get out of the bath or shower in the morning or night and be on your way. Applying them while your skin is still damp will allow for a deeper penetration into the skin than you’d get otherwise too. Plus, a little goes a long way, so it pays to invest.
So let’s swap our moisturisers for oils while the weather begins to change. Below, we’ve popped together a few of our faves.
Sodashi Arabian Oud Body Oil - $159.00
Sodashi make the most luxe body oils and this is their new launch, scented with rose, sandalwood and frankincense. It’s been blended with pure Oud (which costs up to $9000 a kilo! Ridic.) along with other cold pressed oils such as, jojoba, macadamia, almond and apricot kernel. It's the ultimate investment.
Caudalie Divine Oil - $32.00
Instantly absorbed, this oil is super floraly and perfect for spring. It’s made with grapeseed, hibiscus, sesame and argan oils and has been blended with Caudalie’s patented grapeseed antioxidant polyphenols (which is what this brand’s famous for) to help firm your skin.
Lemon scented and loaded with antioxidants, we promise you'll get compliments about how good you smell wherever you go! Other fragrances include: ruby red grapefruit, cardamom and verbana; plus it's aromatherapy infused, so not only is this oil designed to moisturise, but it's also designed to reduce stress!
L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil - $65.00
Made with 50% almond oil (with almonds purchased from the south of France – whaaa) it’s super moisturising, but still super light and seeps in quick. It’s been a best seller for years for a reason! Also applied with a spray which makes things quick.
Organic Cold Pressed Coconut Oil – from anywhere
Organic cold pressed coconut oil – yep, like the ones you buy from health food stores makes for a super cheap and effective body oil. As long you make sure it’s cold pressed/organic then you can pop it all over your body and even on your face! Just buy a separate small container and keep it solely for beauty purposes in your bathroom and away from the coconut oil you use in your kitchen – seriously, you don’t want to end with food floatys on your bod. HA.
