Catalina Vera Vera has been a part of the Rebel Muse family for over a year and if you've popped into our store for a shop you most likely would've met her (and maybe spent an hour chatting with her too.)
Anyway, we're super excited to announce that in the coming weeks this babe will officially be running Rebel Muse as our new Store Manager! We wanted to introduce her to you this week which is why we sat down for a quick chat before her new journey begins!
How did you land your job at Rebel Muse? When did you start? Why did you apply?
I started woking at Rebel Muse in August 2015, my boyfriend actually saw the add on Instagram and thought I would be good for the position, so I applied. At the time I had been in retail for about six-seven years and felt like I needed a change/new challenge.
Have you always loved fashion/styling? Or has it been something you fell into?
Not always, I was definitely a tomboy and I've definitely fallen more into it with social media. I started following bloggers and you tubers about four years ago.
What were you doing before?
Bar tending by night, retailing by day and studying at Uni in between.
What has working at RM taught you so far?
I think the reason I moved from a big company to small business was because I wanted to be able to make relationships with my customers. I wanted to walk into work excited and leave accomplished. Mostly it’s taught me how to listen to others. But there are a lot of aspects about this job that have helped me grow as a person too.
What is your favourite thing about working at RM? What do you find the most challenging?
Favourite thing would be unpacking stock and then sending it out into the world with my customers. Most challenging, is the fact that everyday is different so sometimes the way I’ve laid out the day doesn’t go to plan... and thats ok, although I’ve had to learn to just keep going.
What are your favourite in store labels? And must have items for the season ahead?
It changes depending on the season but coming into spring I love Steele for a stylish yet effortless look and Alice McCall for evening outfits. Nobody is probably my favourit-est brand because jeans and a tee is my uniform. This season, my must haves are defintely denim shorts and/or mini skirts, although I recommend finding a style that you’re comfortable in and suits your body shape. There’s nothing worse than ill fitting denim! Am I right?
Now that you'll soon be manager of RM what are you hoping to achieve?
It’s pretty simple, meeting new people, continuing to grow relationships, being more organised, continuing to learn and I basically want to walk into work (preferably in heels) and (try) to be as bad a boss lady as Alicia.
What's something about your role as manager that people wouldn't really know you would do?
I manage the online store as well. It's really satisfying wrapping up the parcel and sending it out to customers... even though we’ve never met.
Who (or where) do you turn to for style inspo when you're stuck in a rut?
I could spend HOURS on Instagram. Just scrolling through the discovery page. I love how it shows you “things you may like,” because I do!
Favourite bloggers you follow?
I love Lydia Elise Millen, she's from the UK and has ah-mazing style. Very clean and minimal. I like following her for health and fitness too.
HeyClaire, I follow for hair and makeup. It's very LA, raw, edgy, plus she's very funny.
And I love following LoniJane for the FOOOOOOD!
Describe your style in three words
Jeans and Tee’s.
Coffee or tea?
Por que no los dos?
Ultimate holiday destination?
Anywhere with a view or a beach. South of France, Italy, Greece... wink wink Liam!
Why should people pop into RM!?
Even if you’re not after anything there and then, I’m always up for a chat and a laugh! But to be honest, some of our customers actually DON’T come in because I can’t be responsible for their self control... or lack there of. This season’s designs are just too lovely!
