The Best Fashion Movies To Watch

Fashion inspiration can come from anywhere and undoubtedly when we were growing up a range of movies inspired what we chose to wear. Why? Because fashion and movies go hand in hand. And when you're an impressionable teen watching Clueless for the zillionth time your bound to emulate one of their sartorial choices. (Then look back on your choices and LOL).

Designers also tend to use movies to waltz on down memory lane and inspire their collections too. And when a leading lady's wardrobe is still on fire a gazillion years later you know that she'll forever be a timeless babe... or at least be one that we can turn to when past trends re-emerge once again.

Anyway, movies and fashion are like wine on a Friday. Actually, we highly recommend watching these movies with wine on a Friday. They're two peas in a pod which is why we thought we pop together a list of our favourite fashion movies you should download to watch, but more importantly, to stalk, all the clothes in them as well.

Clueless
Of course we're going to start with Clueless. It's the one movie we watched a zillion times growing up (to the point that we're sure our parents would have watched it a zillion times too). Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) was our spirit animal and the girl with the wardrobe (and the hair) that everybody wished they could have. It's also the first movie where we learnt the importance of shopping to relieve stress and having go-to outfits for every occasion. From her plaid suit, knee high socks, white Calvin Klein dress and even her red Alai number, every inch of her wardrobe was to die. Plus she had a virtual wardrobe – which for the 90's was like WOAH. Ps. We can still remember every word!

Pretty Woman
Julia Roberts as Vivian in Pretty Woman was a funner, more grown up version of Cinderella. Think about it. She starts off as a hooker, nabs herself a super rich businessman, transforms her wardrobe thanks to his credit card, they fall in love and live happily ever after. The end. But for real though, this ladies wardrobe goes through one helluva makeover! From the cut out bodysuit thing she starts off with, paired with latex knee high boots and a short blonde wig; to the designer threads she only wears once. At least it'll inspire you to one day shop up a storm on Melrose/find your Mr perfect somewhere around there too.

The Craft
Grunge was everything in the 90's. From chokers, to crosses and even those ladies who embraced all the goth. There's no doubt that during this era, the movie The Craft would have touched your wardrobe in one way or another. It might have even had the power to make you want to be a witch too. LOL. Anyway, this movie was all about the 90's. And since the 90's seem to be making a coming back then it might be a good one to watch now as well. Ps. We are the weirdos Mr!

The Devil Wears Prada
This is a very cliché type of fashion movie, but still it's a fashion movie you need to watch. It's a tongue in cheek take on what life might be like working for one of fashion's most powerful women, US VOGUE Editor in Chief Anna Wintour, and is a sort of sneaky peek into the fashion mag world too. Plus, anything with Meryl Streep is always a winner. One of our guilty pleasures fo' sure!

Breakfast At Tiffany's
Audrey is classic and forever timeless as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Actually, this is a fashion movie referenced as a nod to the fashion world so much, it's hard to imagine life without it. Audrey teamed up with Givenchy for the film and created a simple, elegant and iconic wardrobe that bought Little Black Dresses to fame. Her straight lined black satin gown and white pearls, long black satin gloves and huge tortoiseshell sunglasses she wore in the opening scene will forever be etched as an iconic fashion moment. (While also being a fun reminder to us all, that a lady should never save her dresses just for 'special occasions only'. We say bring them to life at any time you want!)
