No matter the season, skin care is important. I find that I am more concerned about my skin’s appearance in the summer than I am during other seasons. Depending on where you are, your skin may become dry, oily, or burnt because it is so hot. I’ve put together a summer skin care regimen, as well as some tips on how to take care of your face during the summer.
Morning Routine
1. First, I rinse my face in warm water (even though this is a myth that has no effect). After I rinse my face with warm water, I use the Aveeno Ultra-Calming Facial Cleanser for Sensitive skin. It is very gentle and is perfect for my sensitive skin. After using the cleanser, I wash my face with cool tap water.
2. Lush’s ‘Tea Tree Water Toner” is what I use for step two. This toner is great because it comes as a refreshing spray. It seems to help reduce my acne, but I’m not sure if it is the toner or the other products that I use. The toner is more expensive, so I only recommend it if your skin is acne-prone and you are looking for something gentler.
3. Next, I use ‘Garnier SkinActive Refreshing Gel Creme for Dry Skin. If you’ve ever been to Alberta, you know how dry it is. This moisturizer is extremely moisturizing. It is a gel that feels like water. It’s very effective for me.
4. Then I apply sunscreen. Garnier Ambre Solaire ultra-hydrating sun cream is a highly-rated sunscreen. The sunscreen comes in a variety of levels, so you can choose the level that best suits your needs. You probably already knew this, but sunscreen will prevent your skin from burning. Many people only use sunscreen when they’re going to an event that will require them to spend a lot of time outside. But it is essential to wear sunscreen every day because it can protect you from melanoma, one of the deadliest cancers. Why risk getting burned? You don’t know whether your skin will burn or not.
5. Then I use ‘Bubblegum lip scrub’ by Lush. This is what I use to exfoliate and make my lips super soft. It’s also delicious, so that is a bonus.
6. Last but not least, I only use lip balms. Preferably ones that have sunscreen. I personally use eos’ Active Protection Sunscreen lip balm.
Evening routine
1. The first step in my evening routine is to remove any makeup I have applied. Use makeup remover wipes to use fewer wipes.
2. Step two is the same as step one.
3. Aloe vera is the third step in my nightly routine. This step is optional, as I only apply it if the skin on my body has been burned. I use aloe vera gel straight from my aloe vera plant. You can buy aloe gel if you do not have an aloe plant or if you are unable to grow one. There are also products that are designed to treat sunburn, such as Garnier Ambre Solae AfterSun. This product contains Aloe Vera along with other ingredients which soothe and heal damaged skin.
4. The fourth step is to wear a mask. I wear a face mask every day, but not at night. I usually choose peel-off or charcoal masks. Freeman’s peel-off gel masks and charcoal masks moisturize my skin while reducing any acne I may have.
This is my skincare regimen. This article should have helped you improve your skincare routine. (My own is not perfect). Skincare should be part of your daily routine. Even if it’s only rinsing with water at first, this is important. You will see improvements in your skin with every action you take. You will eventually get the skin you desire if you put in some effort. You will need to do a lot more trial and error, but you will succeed. Do not hesitate to consult a dermatologist if you still have serious skin problems despite these efforts. You can get prescribed medications to treat skin conditions like acne or topical creams to treat dry and flaky patches. I’m done.
